When rain falls, it embarks on a journey through our watershed, carrying everything in its path into nearby rivers and streams. That means our everyday choices play an important role in how our water stays clean—or becomes polluted.
The River Starts Here is a reminder that protecting water begins with each of us. What we pour down the drain, what products we use, and what we put on our yards all flow downstream. By making water-friendly choices, we can keep our water clean and support healthy ecosystems for generations to come.
We can work together to prevent pollution at the source. When we protect clean water, we protect the natural beauty and health of our entire region.
The Regional Coalition for Clean Rivers and Streams is a partnership of public agencies in the Portland–Vancouver metropolitan area. Together, we work to educate and empower communities about the impacts of stormwater runoff and the importance of protecting rivers, streams, and groundwater—key sources for our drinking water.
Our partners are committed to providing resources and programming that make it easier for everyone to take part in protecting water.
